Primer is such an important step in my makeup routine, because without it I would probably looks like a panda. I’ve been very loyal to my Urban Decay Primer Potion for years and the times I have strayed, the products just didn’t live up. These days I’ve been really enjoying all my Asian products, so thought I would pick up a couple from Korea and put them to the test. First up, Etude House’s Proof 10 Eye Primer!
Product: Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer
Price: $7.20
The Etude House eye primer really reminds me of the old style packaging of the Urban decay in a potion looking bottle and a doe foot applicator wand. This product is much much cheaper and it’s nice to be able to see how much product you have left, but hard to get to all of it with the wand style applicator.
The primer itself has a light pink colour and for the most part blends out colourless, but with a slight sheen and brightening effect. It is extremely lightweight and easy to blend out which is a really nice change from the Urban Decay’s very thick primer.
Eyeshadows applied smoothly and didn’t seem to affect the colour payoff for any of the shadows I used. At least initially once everything was set into place, my eyeshadow seem budge proof. But the real tests were with time and my skin!
I usually wear makeup for around 8-12 hours a day and I don’t think I’ve ever had any primer keep my eye makeup crease-free by 12 hours. By 6 hours with this primer, the corners of my eyes has creased, more so in the inner corners, and with some fading of the eye shadows in general. And by 8 hours, there was just generally a bit of a mess. This was just with regular day-to-day wear, so I doubt it would hold up in crazy days or humid weather.
In general I do think this primer helps my shadows last longer, but I think because it is so lightweight, there is less tackiness for the shadows to stick to and therefore creases sooner than it would with my Urban Decay primer potion. I do really like the product, but would have to reserve it for light makeup days and/or when I wear makeup for shorter periods of time.
I really enjoyed reading your review! I totally agree with your review. I bought this primer because it was a cult product. Like you said, it is good, but won’t last you over 10 hours. 🙂

Thanks!!! I’m thinking of properly reviewing the innisfree one soon which is supposed to also be a cult favorite 🙂

I have that one as well, but I haven’t opened it yet. Oh, I didn’t realize it was a cult favourite. I got it as a gift. Can’t wait to try it now. 🙂

I think it’s pretty popular in Korea as I know it was sold out everywhere my first time in Korea! Would be interested in what you think compared to the Etude House one 🙂
