NOLA Eats | The Ruby Slippery

Only got to spend one night in downtown New Orleans, but did have an amazing breakfast before heading over to Covington for work. A quick yelp search put The Ruby Slipper on my radar and even at 8am on Monday there was a queue. I quickly put myself on the waiting list via yelp, but luckily being solo meant I walked in and got a seat immediately at the bar!

The place is a decent size with wonderfully high ceilings and enough room for bar seating and tables. I had a nice seat at the end of the bar where the waiter was friendly and suggested I ordered the peacemaker, a mix and match of 2 eggs Benedicts and specifically eggs cochon and chicken st charles. The guy sitting next to me had ordered it, and it had my mouth watering. When the waiter asked me if I wanted any sides with it, I though better of it and passed.

I did have a long day ahead of me, so I did order a latte to wake me up while I waited. Got my huge cup and people watched until my food came.

My benedicts were in front of me within 15 minutes and I was pretty excited about them. I did manage to stop myself and snap a photo before I dug in. Funnily, the lady next to me asked if she could also take a photo of my food too! As you can see below it’s not a surprise given how epic it looked.

I did play with the new portrait mode on my phone camera, and I’m quiet happy how it turned out. What do you think?

Back to the food. Basically I had a fried chicken benedict and a pulled pork benedict both over some amazing biscuits that I could have had more of. Personally I think I lean slightly more toward the chicken, which was so juicy and had such a nice crispyness to it.

Looking at the picture, I just want more. Solid choice to check out if you are looking for a southern twist on your traditional eggs benedict and a lovely staff! Also since it was a work morning, it was nice that I was in and out within an hour.

Have to add my sunrise picture of New Orleans
