PMD Review

I’ve always been a big fan of exfoliating the skin to encourage circulation in the skin and for softer and smoother appearing skin.  The PMD (Personal Microdermabrasion) device is a great at-home solution for those who want to have the results of microdermabrasion without the splurging consistently on the treatment.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical and non-intrusive cosmetic procedure that removes the outermost layer of dry and dead skin cells to expose smoother, softer and younger looking skin.  The removal of this layer allows your skin to reap more of the benefits of your skincare routine, while also encouraging the reproduction of skin, which over time will improve the appearance of your skin naturally.

PMD (Price: £135)

You can get the procedure done at a dermatologist or salon that offers the treatment.  However if you aren’t too keen on spending the money to have a specialist do it for you, the PMD is an at-home device.  The device allows you to change discs depending on the sensitivity of your skin, including sensitive, medium, coarse, very coarse, for all over face & body, and intense all over face & body.

The device works by rotating the disk and essentially ‘sanding’ down the top layer of your skin, while also suctioning up the removed skin (sounds gross, I know).  Practice makes perfect with this.  It took me a while to use the device with ease.

I currently use the medium disc and I can definitely tell the different from the sensitive disk I used prior.  The disks come in 2 different sizes, the larger one typically used for the body.  Each disc lasts about 4-5 uses depending on your skin and how large of an area you cover and a set of replacements will cost you around £19.

The PMD has been part of beauty routine for over a year now and when I have been consistent about using it, my skin is smoother and more radiant.  Skincare absorbs better and makeup applies smoother.  But the biggest difference I notice is my scars and hyper-pigmentations fade and become less prominent.

It has been such a worthwhile investment for me and I even introduced it to my mom who loves it!

Are there any techy beauty gadgets on the market that you love?
